6//26

I didn’t know at first what to write about this month, but a lot actually happened:

  • I graduated from my sling after 7 weeks
  • Drove for the first time in 2+ months (crazy when you’re trying to live out of your vehicle)
  • Camped twice with friends
  • Began my 31st lap around the sun (still haven’t figured this shit out)
  • Started viewing rest as an activity

The final point there helps a lot with recovery – especially when I have no energy at all or when I’m doing PT and it feels like I’m not making progress. Instead of feeling stuck, I’m thinking of rest as a form of progress; storing energy for the next big thing I actually want to do. Maybe I did learn something in my 30th after all…

I also I took my first bike ride in over 8 weeks and honestly, it was as momentous as I had imagined. It just feels so good to move the body and accomplish a goal (was not expecting 2k ft of climbing first ride back), especially when you’re blasting Khruangbin at full volume in the woods (partly because you’re stoked, partly to ward off bears).

Finally, I stumbled upon this Mini meet and I think the photos turned out nice. Oh, and I have been making friends with the new neighbor’s kids:

See you down the road in July!
